| The Hillsborough County Department of Human Services recognizes the challenges that families and youth experience in today's fast paced world. The Programs are: ~ Focused on Strengths of the Family ~ Free of Cost to Families ~ Community and Home Based The Program's Staff provide the following interventions depending on needs: ~ Counseling with Youth and Families ~ School Advocacy and Monitoring of School Progress ~ Behavioral Contracts and Limit Setting ~ Community Referrals and Supports Who pays? The Family Intervention Program (FIP) and the Intensive Juvenile Intervention Program are sponsored by the Hillsborough County Department of Human Services and are funded by Hillsborough County and Grants from New Hampshire Department of Human Services Incentive Funds. FAMILY INTERVENTION PROGRAM (FIP) Over 1,000 youth served The Hillsborough County Family Intervention Program began in March of 1993 with the intention ofpreventing court involvement of youth. Since then we have helped over one thousand youth increase positive behaviors, enhance social skills and improve school performance. The primary work is done with the youth and their families when a CHINS (Child In Need of Services) petition is under consideration. Referral Policy Police, schools, or parents make most referrals to FIP. However, the program also accepts from other agencies, including: ~ NH Division for Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) ~ Division for Juvenile Justice Services (DJJS) ~ Family Mediation Programs ~ Mental Health Centers ~ Lawyers ~ Physicians ~ therapists, ~ and others Parents are required to make the initial call to the program after a referral. Home-based Program The Family Intervention Program is a home based program serving clients 8 - 17 years of age. Family and staff determine duration and frequency of services depending on needs.
